The Water Meadow – Lewis & Irene @ Tudor Rose

A delightful follow up to their bestselling ‘Down by the River’ collection. This time with an Autumnal feel, featuring new friends such as the Water Vole, Dragonflys and a murmuration of Starlings.
The colours inspired by the special sunsets at that time of year over …The Water Meadow.

15% off until 26 March 2019

A beautiful scene of a river bank bordered by lovely plants and trees with the turret of an old manor/ church or castle in the distance behind the hills. Cranes fly across the scene with a small murmuration of birds above and a variety of riverside creatures spotted along the river’s edge.

Leaping rabbits, frogs and waddling ducks as well as otters floating off downstream create a natural idyll. Lily pads, iris flowers and other river loving plants are used to create the effect of the river.

Eye catching prints feature a detailed dragonfly repeat,
thousands of starlings all swooping and diving in unison, and
a brown hare with a sweet little cotton-like tail in various positions, intertwined with cotton plants in brown and white with silhouettes of leafy plants.

Kingfishers, cranes and dragonflies fly and land amongst the plants in the water.  The cobbled stones and faded bridge give the illusion of a vast river filled with an abundance of wildlife, including the sweet little water vole, sat with in the reeds whilst munching on them.

Stylecraft Dreamcatcher

Purple boots is usually a name linked with Powertex and messy art but I do love a bit of yarn! I couldn’t help buying some of the beautiful new yarn that just hit the shop – Dreamcatcher.

Dreamcatcher is the first of the new yarns from Stylecraft for 2019. It is available in six shades and is a beautiful, DK weight mélange of colours in a roving style yarn with 10% wool. The colour change is phased so that the shades shift gradually, making it perfect for the trans-seasonal designs.

I have grabbed my hook and a virus shawl is well on the way. I love the way that there is a far wider variety of colour in the yarn than there first appears by looking at the side of the cake. I often add a plain stripe to my virus shawls but I am pretty sure this won’t need one as the contrast is so good. Watch this space for updates as my shawl develops.

Prefer knitting to crochet? Have a look at some of the gorgeous cardigan and sweater patterns for Dreamcatcher yarn on our website.

Winnie The Pooh fabrics

This adorable collection of fabrics from Eugene Textiles is now available on our website. Featuring Winnie the Pooh and friends in a variety of sweet motifs, these fabrics are 100% craft cotton and just perfect for baby quilts, toddler clothes and whatever other accessories you can think of!

Honey Hunt sees Pooh floating with his red balloon, patting his belly next to a big pot of honey and sat with his elbows resting on the honey pot whilst bee’s fly over him on an off-white background.

Out With Friends pictures Eeyore, Tigger, Piglet, and Pooh playing in an old hollow log, walking together hand in hand, and other enjoyable activities on a pale mint background.

Playtime includes Winnie The Pooh and his friends, Tigger and Eeyore, marching about having fun with each other, there are also bees, honey pots, a stool, a jack in the box, trumpet and drum, all positioned on a cheerful, yellow background.

The Craft Cotton Co blog has an amazing free baby quilt pattern using this range of fabrics. Take a look here.

We don’t currently have the whole range in stock, but this quilt pattern is so simple, you could easily double one of the three fabrics, or use something you already have in your stash.
